Three Years Ago Today…

October 22, 2014

Today is the Feast Day of St. John Paul II….but it’s also our Third Wedding Anniversary! 🙂

We’ve grown a lot in the past three years and I can honestly say the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony is making us better versions of ourselves with each day that passes.

With that, let’s take a peek at that day it all began…

St. John Paul II, pray for us!

Happy 1,000 Days of Marriage!

July 19, 2014

I thought Friday was just a regular ole day.

We had a friend in town who I saw off in the morning. Then I got cleaning and puppy-proofing the house.

Midday I realized I needed some music in my life to spice up the monotony of cleaning, so I called Jonathan to inquire about where our wireless bluetooth speaker was located. This was the conversation that ensued:

Jonathan: “It’s upstairs on my nightstand.”

Amanda: “OK, great. On my way there now.”

Jonathan: stammering sounds…silence…mumblings…”Wait! It’s actually down stairs in the storage closet…inside that white bookshelf…in the bottom cabinet.”

Amanda: “Oh. Alright. I’ll go there instead.” (Not even thinking that it would actually be WEIRD to place a frequently used speaker in a storage closet cabinet)

I got down to the storage room and pulled the light string. I opened the bottom cabinet and found this:

Some of you may remember Jonathan pulled something just as creative on our 500th Day of Marriage. So this trick was right up his alley and I am so grateful for him.

It’s these little things that make marriage a true, undeserved gift and joy. The intentionality of another person expressing they choose Y.O.U. to love with everything they’ve got.  It’s a reflection of how God does this to each of us every. single. day. in the little things.

Pretty cool to ponder.

To celebrate, we grabbed a bite to eat at Piggin’ Out Bar-B-Que and it was A-MA-ZING!!

Then it was off to the Pet Supply store to grab some essentials for our pup’s arrival TOMORROW!!!! 🙂 Stay tuned for some really cute pics of our little dude.

Last but certainly not least, we watched The Lego Movie to end the evening.

Our Anniversary Octave

November 27, 2013

This past month was our 2-year anniversary. To celebrate, we ended up making an octave out of it without really meaning to. We just kept doing fun things every day! Definitely not the normal week. Thank goodness we are Catholic and have many more reasons to party for eight days in a row on a few occasions this year!

Days 1-3

We went to Breckenridge and stayed at a super cute Bed and Breakfast that we will definitely return to someday. I highly recommend it to others!!! While in Breck, we went to nearly all the local museums and ate some really great food. It was really relaxing and recharging to get away for a weekend.

It was 19 degrees outside.

Breaking in our DSLR. We are still learning all it can do.

Day 4

Candlelight dinner made by Jonathan – Steak on the grill, red potatoes, asparagus, and red wine. It was delicious. Then we ran out the door to host a Financial Peace University class, which we love doing!!!

Day 5 – Our Anniversary

After work, we hit up my absolute favorite restaurant in Denver – True Food Kitchen. It’s all recipes based on Dr. Weil’s Food Pyramid and healthy living.

Day 6

Our very first Denver Nuggets game! They played the Phoenix Suns…and unfortunately lost. Afterwards we had an itch to watch the movie Space Jam. What talent! 🙂

Day 7

Fun night hanging out with our neighbors! Forgot to snap any pics.

Day 8

May not be that fun for others…but we had a Teixeira finance committee meeting in which we decided to pursue saving for a house down payment. We calculated various scenarios, looked at housing costs in our area, talked about house preferences, etc. It was so much fun! Again, I don’t know how many people find financial discussions fun but we are some of the few!
