Little Happies: Pupcakes, Babymoons, and Blogging, Oh My!

October 13, 2014

Welcome to this week’s edition of the Little Happies, the happiest little link up around! 🙂

It’s been a busy week and a half around the Teixeira home. This past Friday and Saturday we completed our adoption training classes…meaning we’re approved to adopt and officially just WAITING for Baby Girl’s grand appearance into this world. We still have a good amount to get done around the house before her arrival but the time can’t pass quickly enough!

With that, let’s check out some recent Little Happies.

babymoon.jpg

We took a very cheap Babymoon/Anniversary getaway, thanks to Airbnb.com! They make it easy to take trips on a dime.

We won’t be going on any vacations or romantic getaways anytime soon after Baby Girl Tex comes on the scene so we took 36 hours and ran up to Glenwood Springs, CO.

They are known for their Hot Spring pools, which we basically sat in for an entire day. Besides feeling like we were going to pass out half the time, it was amazing. It was cold and snowy, which created a foggy mist above the springs water. Eerie and really cool. On our way back to Denver we stopped in Vail to see the Aspens changing.

Colorado is simply beautiful.

pupcake.jpg

When I was in Omaha for the baby shower, I dropped into a dog shop and bought Wrigley this little pupcake made specially for dogs. I know, I’m turning into a sappy dog owner but I thought he would be so cute with a little pupcake.

He knows sit and stay, so he was a good little boy and let me set the temptation in front of him while I snapped pics.

But as soon as I gave the word…he was on that pupcake in seconds. It was gone even quicker. I don’t think he chewed….just inhaled.

And yup, it was adorable. I especially love at how he came in with such force that his ears flopped straight up.

DSC04335We updated out latest adoption puzzle progress last week. Hasn’t it come so far?!

It makes me so happy to look at the names on the back and feel the love of so many others in a tangible way I’ve never experienced before. It’s been such a blessing to bring others into our adoption story and I am so glad we did. For anyone who wants to “get in” last minute on the puzzle, click here, we’d love to have you!

Jonathan and I have the chance to tell our Loooove Story over at the FOCUS blog!

It’s going to be a 3-part series and so far Part One is published. Stay tuned this week for the upcoming posts!

We also both posed in Jonathan’s latest FOCUS blog post on how to take your favorite martyrs and turn them into Halloween costumes. 🙂

Remember our Debt Free Story?

Well after we ran it here on the blog, I had someone from THE DAVE RAMSEY BLOG email me and ask if I would like to be one of their guest posts around the upcoming holidays!!!

If you know how big of Dave Ramsey fans we are…you know that I did a happy dance and email back with a resounding “YESSSSS!!!!” Now I just need to come up with a financial holiday blog topic…brainstorm with me down in the comments! 🙂

That’s a Little Happy Wrap!

Little Happies: A Visit From A Friend

July 21, 2014

I am back on the Monday Little Happies track, linking up over at Blessed to Be!

It’s been a packed week with many happy memories I am glad to capture here so I can’t forget!

Don’t get mad at me Collin…

I found this note saved on my computer. It was saved under a folder entitled “random” which indeed this document was.

A great random, since it put a smile on my face that I have such a thoughtful and sneaky little brother.

photo 2I attended my very first concert at Red Rocks!

I had a friend in town and she invited me to come see Gregory Alan Isakov and a few other bands. The venue was awesome and the concert was a good time. I hope we go back someday!

Got this baby for $12.99 at Costco.

I love Orchids and had one in the past but killed it off. I really hope I care for this one well since it’s beautiful and abundantly flowering!

wrigley2.jpgThe left photo is Jonathan attempting to “wear” Wrigley. I think both of them enjoyed it.

The top right-hand side was Wrigley after I began to sing “Let it Go” from Frozen. He hid. I had no idea I could be so scary!

The bottom right is after I quieted down. Wrigley turned around and slowly began to poke back through to see if I was done singing.

I got to visit the Celestial Seasons Factory with my friend Katy, who was in town visiting. Free tea!!

If you are ever in Boulder, CO I highly recommend this Factory Tour – especially the Mint Room! 🙂

Katy and I had all sorts of adventures this week! 🙂

We hiked St. Mary’s Glacier and the last 200 yards to the top was all snow. We got nearly to the summit when we saw some potentially evil clouds brewing nearby and since two people have been killed in Colorado by lightening this past week, we opted to descend.

We used our tennis shoes as skis and more or less surfed down the mountain. There is likely a technical term for that…anyone know?

This weekend we had company over and they brought us this sweet house-warming gift along with these phrases:

“Bread… that this house may never know hunger. Salt… that life may always have flavor. And wine… that joy and prosperity may reign forever.”

How clever and kind! I was very touched and am grateful for their thoughtfulness – especially for that Cinnimon Raisin GF bread…since 1. It’s hard to remember who’s GF anymore these days, and 2. I have always wanted to get that flavor but couldn”t get myself to splurge for it!)

–UPDATE–

THAT CINNAMON RAISIN BREAD THO!

Just devoured two slices and can’t wait for more.

Another evening this weekend we had friends over to play the Dominion Hinterlands expansion game.

Nerds to the core.

Not ashamed.

It was an awesome expansion!

Marriage

Hello! My Name is Wrigley.

July 20, 2014

Wrigley, meet the world.

World, meet Wrigley.

He is a 7 week old English Labrador Retriever and is 100% adorable.

We are HUGE dog lovers and basically vowed that as soon as we were no longer renting, we would get a dog. We are very excited for this addition to the family!

The next couple weeks will be filled with training him and house breaking this little guy. I am sure he’ll do great since his temperament is sweet, laid-back, and eager to please. The goal is to have this little guy totally trained before we adopt so we can work on that whole transition to parenthood thing without worrying about Wrigley chewing my shoes to pieces. We’ll see how that goes! 🙂

wriggles.jpgPS – For those curious folks out there wondering how we came up with the name Wrigley – I wanted the name Brinkley (the dog from You’ve Got Mail) but Jonathan thought it was too cliche, which it totally was. He happens to be a huge Cubs fan (since his dad grew up in Illinois) and Wrigley sounded sort of like Brinkley but was far more original. 😉 Settled.

Little Happies: Our Pup and Some Gambling

June 16, 2014

We’ve been in Omaha, NE for the better part of the week and it’s been non-stop since we arrived.

Many things that make us happy have happened over the week but I forgot to take many photos of most of it…and part of my thinks that is how life should be. Lived. Not constantly photographed and “shared.” That is an different blog post though. Of the moments I did manage to capture, they are below:

paperworkfinal.jpg

It’s The Final Paperwork….duhn duhn duhn duhn…duhn duhn duhn duhn duhn. (The tune of The Final Countdown anybody?)

This leg of the adoption process is DONE!!!

Everything was gathered, triple checked, packaged, and finally mailed off to our agency and the States we’ve lived in. Next on the list, we need to schedule our home visits with a social worker in the upcoming weeks. After that? Hopefully approved to adopt! 🙂 🙂 🙂

Please keep your eyes and ears peeled for ANYONE who may be considering adoption for their child and let us know! Thanks!

mug caminoThis mug.

I leave it at my parent’s house so I can come back and find this gem in the cupboard when I pour my morning cup of joe.

If you haven’t heard about El Camino de Santiago, you need to. During the summer of 2009, I walked The Camino with other FOCUS staff and students and it has and will continue to change my life until the day I die. I am still drawing lessons from that trip. Especially on the road of infertility. I should write a blog post comparing the two journeys and how similar they can be.

Despite the real sufferings experienced on the trip – I overwhelmingly remember all the good things and want to go back and walk The Camino again someday.

AmeristarAtNight

Wild Pixies at Ameristar Casino.

Friday night we went to the Casinos with my Mother and Grandmother, primarily to watch the fireworks at the College World Series Opening Ceremony….OK and to gamble responsibly.

My mom won some cash off the bat so she gave us a lucky $20 so we didn’t have to cough up our own dough. Thanks mom! From that we ended up nearly tripling her winnings playing Wild Pixies. It was a lot of fun!

By the time we met up with Grandma and Mom later on, everyone had won! A great night overall!

jonathan bloggingThe World Cup!!!

We’ve been watching the games and will DEFINITELY be watching the USA play Ghana tonight!!

What’s making me happy is seeing Jonathan’s awesome graphics going up on the FOCUS blog breaking down each country complete with stats on what the Church looks like there.

pupThat guy.

Another FOCUS missionary’s family breeds Labrador Retrievers and we’ve been wanting one FOR-EV-ER but had to wait till we were no longer renters. The pups were born a few weeks ago and our little guy will be set to come home with us later this summer! Can’t wait!!!

facebook_logoI’m leaving Facebook for a while and feeling HAPPY about it.

Call it cruel fate but Facebook pretty much only shows me pregnancy photos, babies being born, or family photos these days. Seeing these posts one after another sends me into a depressing place I refuse to keep going to. I’m sure one day I will be stronger and better able to handle the bombardment…but that isn’t today and I am happy to finally admit that.

Catch me here on the blog or by phone/email if you want to get a hold of me!
