Last Chance To Join Our Adoption Puzzle!

October 10, 2014

It’s your last chance to join in the adoption puzzle fun! 🙂

Back in August we successfully met our phase one goal with a 9-day push! Woohoo!

At that point, we needed $13,000 to submit payment to both adoption agencies (Colorado and California). We exceeded that goal with all of your help and couldn’t be filled with more gratitude.

So, what’s the puzzle look like today?

DSC04335A whole lot more progress from last time you saw it, due to donations that rolled in past the nine day push.

I can’t wait to tell Baby Girl about all those people on the back of the puzzle and how they made this adoption possible 🙂

Here are the stats:

  • 743 Pieces Sold

  • $18,575 raised

  • 74% of original goal of $25,000

That’s awesome, right!?!?!

So we are officially onto phase two of wrapping up the puzzle fundraiser. There are still expenses coming up, so those of you who want to slip in LAST minute before we finalize and hang the puzzle…now is your chance!

The expenses we do know are coming up include:

  • $975 Agency Coop and ICPC fees

  • $1,700 Post Placement Fee

  • $500 Variable Expenses from Colorado agency

  • $2,500 Variable Expense from California agency

  • $1,100 Travel Expenses while in California

Total Expenses Left: $6,775.00

What does that mean for how much we still have yet to fundraise in phase two?

Let’s do some math below:

Phase One expenses ($13,000) + Phase Two expenses ($6,775.00) = Total adoption expenses ($19,775.00)

Total adoption expenses ($19,775.00) – Total fundraised ($18,575.00) = Total left to fundraise ($1,200)

So that’s basically nothing compared to what we’ve fundraised to this point! 🙂

This is the LAST CALL for those who want to forever be part of Baby Girl Teixeira’s adoption. Help us meet this final phase two goal and become part of our family forever.

Thank you all and God bless!

Little Happies: All About Baby Tex

October 6, 2014

Welcome back to the Little Happies 🙂

This week is all about Baby Teixeira…and let’s be honest…the fact that I am writing about this at all is a HUGE HAPPY!!!

But there can certainly be little happies along the journey to the big ones! That’s what I want to share with you this week.

Also….

In this post you will also discover the gender of Baby Tex!!!!

Now I’ve got your attention!

–one–

We “met” Baby Tex back in August because we were blessed with baby’s birth momma being willing to travel to Denver while being very pregnant. (I use the term birth mom since that’s a commonly used term in the adoption world. She is truly much more and I in no way mean that term to belittle her in anyway whatsoever.)

The weekend was awesome. My SIL and nephew flew in too, so it was definitely a packed house. We spent time swimming, eating, chatting, tie-dying, and laughing. Lots of laughing. It was a great weekend and we realized that we are spoiled with a great birth family. I’ve never met such giving, selfless, caring, and positive people. We are excited about an open adoption and know it will bless our and Baby Tex’s life over the years ahead.

us

Then there was this 🙂

Our first and only photos of Baby Tex are a few ultrasound pics in which they couldn’t get great images. Oh well, at least they got some!

This was the photo shoot in which Baby revealed their gender and breech status. Say some prayers Baby flipped between then and now!

showerone.jpg

Insanely surreal.

I had a Baby Shower.

What??!?!?!?!?

Back when I was knee deep in warped infertile thinking, I wrote this day off as something that would NEVER happen.

But it did. Wow. Thank you Lord!

My wonderful family hosted a totally Pintrest-worthy shower for me last weekend. Major shout-out to my Aunt Denise who went all out and painted decorations, made the cake/cupcakes, and made every detail as cute as can be. It was a lot of fun to celebrate this upcoming adoption with family and friends.

And now we actually have clothes for the kiddo to wear 🙂

–three–

reveal.jpg

Before the shower we had a private gender reveal – so we could also then tell others the gender at the baby showers.

Our baby’s birth mom Facebook messages me the gender results.

Then my mom hacked into my Facebook account, read the message and called Baby R Us.

The staff at Baby R Us put together a onesie package based on the gender of Baby Tex.

We arrived to pick up the gift wrapped package and the staff were so giddy! 🙂 They said this small task made their night. It was really touching to see how excited people are about adoption.

Then we opened the package….and obviously by now you know IT’S A GIRL!!!!!! EEEEEEPPPPP!!!

We couldn’t be more excited about this! 🙂

–four–

shower2.jpg

Then I had amazing friends in Denver throw me a second Baby Shower! 🙂

Double surreal!!!

Again, it was cute as can be and we also had a gender reveal in the gorgeous and delicious gluten-free cupcakes.

Even though I knew, don’t I still look surprised? Props to Alzbeta for snapping these photos of the gathering!

I felt so supported and loved the past couple weeks. Again, it’s truly inspiring to see how excited people are for this adoption.

–five–

Lactation induction.

Obviously no photos here.

This might sound weird to some of you but I assure you it’s not.

I am currently inducing lactation so I can breast-feed Baby Girl. This involves taking herbs, medications, drinking lots of water/tea, and pumping every 2-3 hours per day.

But after two weeks of pumping, I started making milk! What!?!?!

It’s not much. I only make 3-4 ounces a day which is a SMALL fraction of what the baby needs. It keeps getting better each day though, which is encouraging since “the ladies” didn’t really have 9 months to gear up for this. I’ve got about one month left to keep pumping, storing, freezing, and building my supply. It’s literally my new full-time job and I am so excited to be doing it.

That’s a Little Happy wrap! Stay tuned this week for one last puzzle fundraiser update!

A few donations continued to come in today, which will definitely help with the next goal down the road.

Here are the stats we saw on Thursday:

On day nine we sold a total of 17 puzzle pieces, totaling $425!!

Total overall stats thus far are now as follows:

  • 572 pieces sold

Really starting to fill in and that last line of text is beginning to peek through!!! We are excited to send payment to both agencies early this next week and get estimates on future miscellaneous expenses.  I

Building Our Family Piece by Piece: Day Eight

August 21, 2014

Eight days down.

One more to go.

We are EXCITED to say that today we reached our goal to meet our phase one funding goal of nearly $13,000 for the home study completion and out-of-state agency fee.

Sometime Wednesday evening the final donations came in that tipped us over the goal…and a few more came in only a few minutes later, taking us beyond the $13,000 we needed at this time. We absolutely will incur more than that in agency expenses, so every extra dollar is still going towards the adoption. We just have that much less fundraising to do later on when we find out any extra expenses.

Here are the stats we saw on Wednesday:

On day eight we sold a total of 66 puzzle pieces, totaling $1,650!!

Total overall stats thus far are now as follows:

  • 555 pieces sold

  • $13,875 raised!!!!

  • 106% of current goal of $13,000 (WAHOO!)

  • 55% of original goal of $25,000

Here’s a picture of the puzzle progress:

DSC04146

Looking great!

Again, despite the fact that we met our goal, if anyone still wishes to purchase a puzzle piece, feel free to jump on board. The extra expenses will come but we won’t know the final amount until it’s all said and done.

Thanks again for all who have donated! May God bless everyone who’s walking alongside us in this journey.

Thank you again for all who are joining Team Baby Teixeira! :)

Keep coming back each day for new progress updates!

Building Our Family Piece by Piece: Day Seven

August 20, 2014

Seven days down.

Two more to go until the day we hope to meet our phase one funding goal of nearly $13,000 for the home study completion and out-of-state agency fee.

There must be something about number seven since it was our best fundraising day thus far!!! 🙂

ANNNND we are ssssssooooo close to our goal! We’re truly in the home stretch.

Thanks to you all we went from the smallest day to the largest day…all on day seven.

Not surprising when I actually sat to think about it. It was like God (since in the bible the number seven means perfection or completion) saying, “In the fullness of time I bring you what you need.” Duh. I always seem to forget that one.

Since it was the biggest day yet, here are the stats we saw on Tuesday:

On day seven we sold a total of 95 puzzle pieces, totaling $2,375!! Praise the Lord! 🙂

Total overall stats thus far are now as follows:

  • 489 pieces sold

  • $12,225 raised

  • 94% of current goal of $13,000 (soooo close!)

  • 49% of original goal of $25,000

Here’s a picture of the puzzle progress:

DSC04134

EEEEP!

It’s really coming together! CHILD is more or less spelled out! Woohoo!

We are also excited because we now know the adoption cost will NOT be $25,000. Whew! We don’t have the final numbers but it will end up somewhere around $15,000-$17,000. Great news!

Thanks again for all who have donated! May God bless everyone who’s walking alongside us in this journey.

Thank you again for all who are joining Team Baby Teixeira! :)

Keep coming back each day for new progress updates!

Building Our Family Piece by Piece: Day Six

August 19, 2014

Six days down.

Three more to go until the day we hope to meet our funding goal of nearly $13,000 for the home study completion and out-of-state agency fee.

On Monday things slowed down significantly on the puzzle fundraiser…which we sort of anticipated right as we are about to enter the home stretch!

If I am being totally honest, I am feeling incredibly vulnerable.

I know God will provide for our family if this is his will. But through this fundraiser I’ve been reflecting on the fact that due to medical issues, we won’t bring a biological baby home without help. We need God, doctors, treatments, etc. to even have a CHANCE at that. Same thing with adoption…we can’t even do that alone either. God told us not to. We need him and you.

In our culture today, to need to rely on others is a humbling thing. Real humbling. But we’ve fundraised our income for over 7 years, so haven’t I gotten over the humility? Sure, in some ways. But this is different. The ability for me to become a mother or Jonathan a father lies in God and your hands…not our own. That’s an entirely new level of inviting others to help. It can be embarrassing.

But I choose to stand in the fact that God invited us to take a leap of faith….

To ask others to join us as we walk through the adoption process. To give others a concrete way to say YES to life by supporting a birth family who CHOSE adoption instead of abortion. To give others a concrete way to say YES to life by supporting a couple who CHOSE adoption instead of artificial reproduction.

Vulnerably we stand. A week into our puzzle fundraiser. Dependent on the heroic generosity of others and the Lord. Trusting his plans will exceed our own.

That’s a deep reflection, I know, but I felt like it just needed to be shared to truly bring you all into this experience. I don’t think ours is a story often told and we want to allow others to take a peak into the beauty of adoption.

Back to the puzzle 🙂

Although it was a slow day, here is the progress we saw Monday:

On day six we sold a total of 13 puzzle pieces, totaling $325!! Progress is progress so we are happy!

Total overall stats thus far are as follows:

  • 395 pieces sold

  • $9,875 raised

  • 75% of current goal of $13,000

  • 39% of original goal of $25,000

Here’s a picture of the puzzle progress:

DSC04129

Now it’s the “L” and “D” you can see forming!

Please help us bring this fundraiser home and reach our goal by Friday! May God bless everyone who’s walking alongside us in this journey.

Thank you again for all who are joining Team Baby Teixeira! :)
